Polarization encoding carries message with states of polarization. It can solve the problem of power fluctuation, reduce the nonlinear effects and improve spectral efficiency of optical fiber communication system. So polarization encoding technology has become a research focus in high-speed optical fiber communication. In order to implement SOP-encoding communication, it is very important to make high stable polarization encoder. So this paper includes some researches of Laser light source, phase compensation technology and polarization encoding schemes. Firstly, we made a stable DFB Laser as the light source of polarization encoder. Then a stabilization technology based on phase compensation for polarization encoder was proposed. With the phase compensation circuit, the optical fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer based on3x3fiber coupler can solve the problem of interference instability. We also proposed a technology to distinguish positive and negative feedback signal using quadrant judgment. At last, we built a stable polarization encoder based on optical fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer. With this encoder, we tested polarization encoding signal and its stability and finished10Gb/s encoding experiments. The conclusion of this paper not only provides technical support to implement high-speed polarization encoding optical fiber communication, but also has reference value for optical fiber sensing.
