The multi-component seismic exploration in recent years, making full use ofthe information of P-wave and S-wave in the spread of the gas media, has the highapplied prospects in the explanation. For the technology of multi-componentseismic exploration, the integrated interpretation is one difficulty. And the matchingbetween P-wave and S-wave in time domain is the necessary link of the processedand the explanation of the seismic data. We can analysis the similarities anddifferences of the P-wave and the S-wave in the profile to find the oil and gas onlywe complete the matching job between P-wave and S-wave. Traditional method tosolve this problem is mostly based on theoretical analysis. And for the real seismicdata, it’s widely used the manual method to being discrete layer calibration.Unfortunately, its precision is low and making a difficulty for data explanation orwasting of the resource. Basing on this problem, we try to find a new method tomatch the P-wave and S-wave in time domain which can register themautomatically and can be a practical application or provide the basis for reservoirprediction. The detailed research contents and the main results are as follows:(1) Based on the analysis of the relationship between P-wave and S-wave andthe correlation function, we do some experiments for the real seismic data and get aprimary matching result which we can find that some seismic events in the profilecan be matched well but some others are not.(2) Because of some seismic events don’t be matched, we propose a newmethod called multi-scale and multi-layer decomposition to solving this problem.Firstly, we decompose the P-wave seismic profile using the curvelet transform. Sodoes the S-wave. Then we can match them layer by layer. The experiment’s resultpresent that the main seismic events can be matched well with each other. Thisresult shows that this method works well, so our method has a good prospect in thematching job. Finally, we analyze the possible ways to improve the piecewiseinversion in engineering and give some suggestions.
