Marine buoy, as a kind of sea platform with various detective equipment, is animportant part of nowadays’ ocean motoring system. In case that the marine buoyoften work under complex and tough sea environment, its safety and reliability seemsso imperative as to guarantee the effective use of all kinds of other sea equipment.Resistance, towing stability, and Motion Characteristics of2.6Meters AluminumSecurity Buoy are analyzed and calculated in the paper by model experiment. On thisbuoy model tests, which included static water resistance, towing test of wave and testof regular wave motion, are carried out in the towing tank at Tianjin University.Considering different draft, wave parameters and towing speed, reasonable model isdesigned and available scheme is formed. Towage resistance and motion response ofmodel is measured. According to similarity criterion, towage resistance and motionresponse of prototype is obtained.The motion and dynamic response was studied in different water depth and wavedirection by the combination of three dimensional linear potential flow theory,diffraction/radiation theory and SESAM. The buoy’s three dimensional model wasdesigned, frequency domain and non-liner time domain coupled motion response, themotion characteristics of the buoy’ motion and the movement inherent cycle werecalculated. As the same time, all results were compared with the regular waveexperiment, which got a ideal results. What’s more, in the paper, the characteristics ofthe buoy’s chain, the motion’s scope of the buoy on the bases of strength of themooring line and the living standard under extreme sea environment were also got.By means of model test and computational analysis, the property of resistanceand motion of the marine buoy during floating towing are predicted and the motioncharacteristics in regular wave, the moored buoy’s dynamic response under thecombination of wind ocean current were calculated. This paper provides a practicalresult which could be referenced in relevant research in the future.
