The subject of this study is a technology applied research which provided scientific expedition instrument for China’s28th Antarctic scientific expedition. It is provided financial aid by2012Ministry of water resources welfare industry funding for research and special projects called "The automatic monitoring system development and field experiment used in ice conditions in the Yellow River (item number:201201080)" and "Specialized Research Fund for Doctoral Program of Higher (Project Number:20091402110004)".Human exploration of the Antarctic is not interrupted since the discovery date of it, and many countries have research station in the Antarctic. Antarctic ice sheet not only records the global climate change in the past, and now global climate change magnifies. Based on this characteristic, the human Antarctic climate observations to grasp the global climate change, which requires appropriate means of observation of this region’s climate data accurately grasp and to obtain a large number of field data.In this paper, we design an instrument for data collection and monitoring to ice water situation environmental in south pore. It is urgently needed by the28th Antarctic Scientific Expedition. The instruments and designed is based on the principle of ice water conductivity differences. This is a real-time automatic monitoring system. In the design process, the detection research group in the Institute of Measurement and Control Technology, based on the old system which used in the Yellow River. We full account of the Zhongshan Station, Antarctica special field work environment, make some improvements in the structure of the original system, circuit functions, and the device circuit board manufacturing process. We add a satellite communications that can realize data transfer capabilities of ice conditions, new monitoring equipment installed by the laboratory aging test. The newly developed system can reliably achieve the ice elimination process, internal temperature gradient and water level data online continuous acquisition, real-time data sent to the Zhongshan Station or the domestic monitoring station data processing center by the way of satellite communications. In order to fulfill the demand, this paper mainly discusses the system design and field experiments from the following four aspects:(1) Hardware design. For the extreme Antarctic climate, have done a great deal to modify the system low-power design, including board redesign, remove features that you do not need to and replace components with large power loss.(2) The design of the data acquisition software part, due to the complex structure of the old software system, it is not high enough convenient to maintain system stability, and when the environment temperature varies greatly in Antarctic. Based on this issue, this paper introduces the embedded software design including uC/OS-II on the MSP430transplant and the preparation of the application process. In addition, in order to facilitate the application, the article also uses VB to design a network and serial data reception, database storage software.(3) The data of ice conditions monitoring system transmission using the Beidou satellite. Because the old applied in the Yellow River in the past based on GPRS/GSM mobile network which can not be covered in the Antarctic region network, the article compares several common satellite communication systems, and makes a contrast to parameters between two data terminal of the Beidou satellite communications system.(4) The mounting structure design of ice conditions sensor. Limited human and material resources of the Antarctic region, civil work difficult. In this paper, streamline the structure of the sensor; make a combination to the data acquisition board and sensor, easy the monitoring device installed in the lake.In conclusion, the article describes the system on-site installation, including the effect of instrument installation in several monitoring points in the Yellow River in Inner Mongolia and Antarctic lakes. The next step we will do further experiments to observe the actual operation of the system in extremely cold conditions in the Antarctic and the northern border at the Argun.
