Marine temperature and depth (TD) measurement is two fundamental techniques which are involved with ocean observation. The high-precision temperature and depth data which are acquired by self-contained temperature-depth data logger deployed in a long term can provide significant references on research of physical oceanography and oceanographic environmental investigation.Through research on development of TD data logger, the temperature and pressure measurement principles are described and prototype of temperature and pressure sensor’s measurement are also discussed in this thesis. Each function modules of hardware circuit design are mentioned and the state machine of software is applied in the software design. A specific process of temperature and pressure calibration is introduced with using a reasonable method of linear fit. The calibrated temperature sensor can be reached at±0.005℃and accuracy of the pressure sensor can be performed at±0.05%full scale. A field experiment is deployed in order to learn about data quality between own-design TD data logger and other related TD loggers which are manufactured by different companies. Lastly, the field experiment reveals that the temperature-depth data logger performs stable and consistent.
