Related Research About Conformal FDTD Method

Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method, as an important branch of calculationelectromagnetism, has received widely attention and been rapidly development for its advantagessuch as direct time domain calculation, simple and universal as well as high precision. Theconformal FDTD method is proposed to overcome the error caused by FDTD staircase. Whencalculating irregular-structure component, the Conformal FDTD (CFDTD) method can reach highaccuracy.This paper works on conformal method, including the implements and stability analysis ofconformal FDTD method and conformal Hybrid Implicit-Explicit FDTD (CHIE-FDTD) method.Fistly, this paper introduced the basic theory of CFDTD method, including metal CFDTDmethod and dielectric CFDTD method, the equations and the flow chart were given, thesuperiority of CFDTD method was verificated by two examples. Then as the difficult problems ofCFDTD method, the stability of CFDTD method was studied, two importrant paramenters wereintroduced, at the same time, several commonly used method to guarantee the stability were given,their advantages and approched structures were listed in a table.Secondly, the conformal method was introduced into Hybrid Implicit-Explicit FDTD(HIE-FDTD) method to improve the efficiency. The HIE-FDTD method is an improvement ofFDTD method, which can partly overcome the CFL restriction and improve the efficiency. In thispart, the basic theory of HIE-FDTD method was given and the high efficiency of HIE-FDTDmethod was demonstrated by an example. Then the basic equation of CHIE-FDTD method wasintroduced. Through the analysis of the CHIE-FDTD method, the irregular patch structures werefoud as the suitable structure of the method, and the method was finally proved to be highefficiency and accuracy.Finally, the stability analysis of CHIE-FDTD method was given. The instable factor wasanalyzed from equations, and an improved method was proposed to eliminate the factor, then theproposed method was proven by some examples to be an efficient method.
