With the continuous development of oil exploration and development, furtherresearch is needed to more complex structure and heterogeneous reservoir.Three-dimensional wave equation finite difference numerical simulation can be effectivefor complex structures. Numerical simulation of3D wave equation has to face theoccupation of the large memory and low efficiency, the paper using3D wave equationwith the bivariate grid finite-difference parallel simulation method to achieve bettersimulation results and higer simulation efficiency.More and more researches have been done on fine simulation of wave fields ofcomplex reservoirs by applying dual-variable grid algorithm. However, errors aregenerated due to the algorithm itself despite of its achievement of finer simulation oncomplex media and the rising of computational efficiency. Aiming at a more accuratenumerical modeling of locally complex structure, through theoretical analysis andnumerical simulation experiments, quantitative studies and comparisons on varying-spacegrids with interpolation method and variable coefficient method are implemented. An erroranalysis of locally variable time step method is also conducted in this paper. Errorsgenerated by every method mentioned are then quantitatively studied to determine theapplication scope of this method. And thus the simulation accuracy can be guaranteed incase of weak anomaly of wave field by choosing appropriate method and parameters.Numerical simulation of3D wave equation based on the bivariate grid technology hasalso use parallel algorithms, and to do so can be more effective to solve efficiency problem. In this paper, models selected in the3D numerical simulation are three-dimensionalrandom media model, a flat-layer model with thin interbed and a complex model whichcontains faults and fornix constructed and the simulation results for simple instructions.
