Heicigou area lies within the subduction-collision complex zone on the south slope ofEastern Kunlun Mountains south of the Mesoproterozoic-Neoproterozoic to early Paleozoicsuture zone, Eastern Kunlun Mountains, and between the middle Kunlun fault zone and thesouth Kunlun fault zone. According to the division on metallogenic belt, it belongs to theXueshanfeng-Buerhanbuda Variscan-Indosinian Co-Au-Cu-Jade (rare metals, rare earthelements) metallogenic belt. Regionally, strata are relatively completed exposed, folds andfaults are complex, and magmatism acted frequently, resulting into the formation of metaldeposits, like Au, Fe, Co and Cu deposits.Combining with geological, geophysical and geochemical data obtained from recentprospecting in the area by Qinghai Geology&Mineral Resources Bureau, through syntheticstudy on main ore-bearing characteristics of regional strata, structures and magmatic rocks, metallogenic regularity and prospecting indicators were preliminarily summarized, whichguides the prospecting work in a larger range of the area.In this study, by synthetic analysis of previous data and geological, geophysical andgeochemical data acquired in this work on Heicigou area, we preliminarily summarizedore-forming geological characteristics, deposit/orebody occurrence law, ore-controllingfactors, prospecting direction, etc. In addition, by synthetic analysis of ore-hosting geologicalbodies, ore-bearing structural zones, ore (mineralized) bodies, wallrock alteration, prospectingindicators, etc., we made a simple analysis of deposit genesis and metallogenic mechanism forthe area, and proposed ideas, procedures and methods for next-step geological prospectingwork, aiming at providing a guide to geological prospecting work conducted in the area. The following inclusions are obtained in this study:1.NWW-trending faults aredeveloped in the study area, and magmatism acted frequently, which provides favorableconditions for mineralization.2. Ore (mineralized) bodies are mainly of quartz vein type andaltered cataclastite type, which are both developed within structural alteration zones; orebodies have consistent attitude with structures; NWW-trending faults and related secondarystructural fractured zones are the best ore-hosting space.3. The area has good geochemicalsetting for mineralization: the1:50,000stream sediment anomaly (mainly Au) spreads in adirection consistent with structural lines, with larger area and good element match.According to existing geological work, the working procedure for gold prospecting inthe area was summarized as follows: firstly, seek prospecting targets and limit prospectingscope using large-range1:50,000stream sediment survey; secondly, conduct surfaceverification on delineated stream sediment anomalies by large-scale geological mapping andsoil survey etc., to delineate ore-bearing structural zones and seek abnormal material source;if necessary, layout a little trenching engineering to uncover initially; lastly, uncover andverify the ore-bearing structural zones and concentrating centers of soil anomalies delineatedby early-stage work using trenching and drilling etc. to seek significant ore bodies.
