Chinese Grouse was the smallest grouse and distributed at Alpine coniferous forest in central and west China. The Chinese Grouse has been listed as "Lower Risk (near threatened)" by the IUCN in1996. Chinese Grouse defended territory and mated in spring, the breeding season. It has been observed that Chinese Grouse fight with intruder for protecting. From April to May in2012, the research about chinese grouse territory defense behavior using speciman and playback simulate song was performed at Lianhuashan National Natural Reserve Gansu Province, China. It indicate that the individual behavior have no significant difference, but there is significant difference before and after paired. It is shown that the Chinese Grouse more aggressive gets more food resources. Chinese Grouse drive away intruder at different level:recognize, alarm, chase run, head-bowing combat and air-jumping combat, with3types of aggressive call simultaneously. But they prefer to alarm intruder in more peaceful way like flutter jump instead of chase to save energy.Sichuan wood owl is an endemic species distuibuting at central China. The report on this species is rare now. In order to increase the knowledge of this rare species, from2011.4to2012.7, the research on Sichuan wood owl breeding ecology was taken. This paper illustrate the vocalization of Sichuan wood owl, female have4calls:responding to nestlings, responding to male, alarm, urgent alarm; male have3calls:2types of territorial sing, responding to female; nestlings have2calls:chirp call, alarm. Analysis of spectrogram shows that the male duration of syllable is the longest, female is the shortest; and that the fledgling frequency of calls is the highest, male is the lowest.Comparing to Ural owl (Strix uralensis), they have the similar calls, however, Sichuan wood owl have less duet.
