Light is an excellent carrier of information, but it is difficult to localize andmanipulate. Recently, it is shown that electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT) has become the important method to manipulate the light. Usingelectromagnetically induced transparency, group velocity reduction and coherentstorage of light pulse can be realized. Most of EIT-based light manipulations areperformed in atomic gases. For practical applications, related researches insolid-state materials are more important. In this paper, using the four-leveldouble-Lambda atomic system, we experimentally study the coherent control ofdouble slow light pulses. By manipulate the EIT-control field, the stored singlepulse is converted into two slow light pulses with different frequencies. It isrealized to simultaneous storage and release of two slow light pulses by controlthe switch-off and switch-on of two control fields. Also, we study the frequencyconversion between two slow light pulses. Coherent manipulation of two slowlight pulses in solid-state system will have important applications in furtherquantum information and all-optical networks.
