This paper analyzes the formation mechanism and mode of failure of1#slumpedmass. In this dissertation, the main investigation work focuses on thefollowing:Geological investigation and information collection,analysis of the regularityof surface and underground deformation, research on the characteristics of engineeringgeological petrofabric,analysis of the regularity of the joint fissure development, researchon the weak strata and bedding-slip zone.The results of numerical simulation only by seepage flow showed that the horizontaldisplacement of the landslide was much more than the vertical displacement. Themonitoring data demonstrated the same results. That was to say gravity was the mainfactor that caused deformation of the landslide. The contour of SMax and SMin showedthat the stress concentration zone turned up on the interface between slumpedmass andbedrock. The stress concentration zone controlled the activity of the slumpedmass. Thestate block zone showed that most of the zone near the interface was in plasticdeformation.The safety factor of1#slumped mass was1.15, which was a safety factor. Thebiggest shear strain increment occurred in the front part of1#slumped mass and theeastern boundary of1-2#slumped mass. The direction of velocity was the same as Ydirection, which directing main slip direction. The contour of shear strain increment ofthe five longitudinal geological sections showed that the most dangerous potential slidingsurface was between slumpedmass and bedrock.
