Nickel-based alloy GH4169has high temperature strength, good resistance tooxidation and hot corrosion. It has been widely used in the aerospacefield. However,it is very difficult to machine. D406A is low alloy high strengthsteel, it has good overall performance, it is widely used in the shell of aircraftengine. It is significant to make it suitable for machining these two difficult tomachine materials by sharpening the standard high-speed steel.Firstly, after introducing the research condition of the two difficult tomachine materials, analyze the relationship between the main geometric point ofdrill, use the Matlab to draw the curve of the relationship between them; use thedrilling force mathematical model to analyze how the drill geometry point affectthe drilling performance; and the theoretical formula of the clearance angle andchisel angle is given according to the conical grinding method. Then, do sharping on a few standard HSS drills.and design the single factorexperiments and orthogonal experiments on GH4169and D406A, analyze andinterpret the test data. Using multiple linear regression method to processorthogonal experiment data, get the order of the impact of factors on the drillingforce and drilling temperature, and get the empirical formula of the drilling forceand drilling temperature of the two materials and finally get the best geometric ofthe drill point when drilling the two material for GH4169and D406A.Finally, use the AdvantEdge metal cutting professional simulation softwareto compare with the test date, anlyze the stress-strain state and the temperature ofthe standard drill and the sharpened drill. Introduce the split point drill suitablefor difficult to machine materials, and compare the the stress state of the chiseledge of the split point dril with standard drill using the simulation software.
