With the application scope of multi-axis CNC machine expanding, multi-axisCNC become the main research direction of the CNC technology. The paper analyzedthe basic framework of reconfigurable CNC system and introduced the function ofmajor modules. From the point of view of practical application, the paper focused onthe research on the interpreter modules which can perform the data conversionfunction. The paper included the following aspects.The architecture of the reconfigurable CNC system and the function of the mainmodules were researched, including human-machine module, interpreter module, PLCmodule and motion control module. The reconfigurable CNC was classified accordingto communication mechanism among the modules, including front-back CNC andinterrupt mechanism CNC.The paper analyzed the functions and implementation of the interpreter moduleand researched the interpreter structure which based on the register exchangealgorithm. The cycle processing instruction in the interpreter module of TDNC-SXsystem was developed, and the automatic tool change function was achieved byinterpreter module and PLC module. By adding other processing instruction, theinterpreter module became an industrial module.According to the development of multi-axis CNC system, the paper pointed outthe structure of interpreter module in the multi-axis CNC system, achieved theinterpreter module of9-axis CNC system. In order to improve the development ofinterpreter module in the multi-axis CNC system, a simulation software was wrote byusing OpenSceneGraph graphics library and C++language in the Windows platform.The software can show the tool trajectory and responded to users’ mouse input, andhad translation, rotation and scale functions.The paper researched the radius compensation function of interpreter module,optimized the tool radius compensation of plane, and researched an algorithm of spacetool radius composition. And the equation of Cutter-Location and Cutter-Contact andthe coordinate conversion matrix of the tool were created.
