In the process of urban sewage collection, a lot of sand mixed with sewage into theurban sewage treatment plant, because of pipeline unrepaired or other human factors. Ifthe sand can’t be removed, will cause pipeline jammed, equipment abraded, reduce theeffective volume of sewage treatment structures, and impact water-quality. Grit chamberis the main treatment structures of grit removal, is irreplaceable in sewage treatmentplant. Vortex-type grit chamber is more and more used into production. It’s smallfootprint, high efficiency, low land exploitation fees and serviceability, but have someproblem also.①In this work, aim at the condition of water resource and sewage treatment ofour country, studied application of vortex grit technology, surveyed the treatment effectand management of vortex-type grit chamber in sewage treatment plant. Because of theproblem of inefficiency, high failure rate, noisy and odor pollution, vortex-type gritchamber have been transformed. After the transform, surveyed the treatment effect,management condition, impact of follow up treatment structures, benefit analysis andexplored the principle, provide reference for practical application.②It’s reformed, as follow, wipe off hydro cyclone, add guide plate, add water jetpipe, add flared pipe, add blow down system, change flat base into slope and change airsource.The water passes between nine guide plate and pool wall make flow rotated, thegrit and organic compounds are separated when the flow run into guide plate frequently,the grit is sunk, and slipped into set sand bucket rely on gravity. The water jet pipe helpflow done rotary movement and washing the grit in the bottom. A series of transform tothe sand pipe and air source make the sand pipe efficient. Blow down system isconvenient for overhauling.③The grit removal efficiency of vortex-type grit chamber after transform isincreased into357kg/d from0.65kg/d. The removal rate of CODcr is15.8%,it’s thereason of separation of sand and organic compounds. MLVSS/MLSS of oxidation ditchis increased into47.06%from30.18%, it’s reflect the increased proportion of activatedsludge. The treatment is advantageous for sewage treatment.The vortex-type grit chamber after treatment is low failure rate, noise reduction,reduced the management link, improved the efficiency, saved the energy consumption, reduced the production cost.
