Strontianite and Celestite resources had a large amount of strontium carbonate andstrontium sulfate in China. The old ore-processing technology had led to the lowleaching utilization ratio of strontium. Strontium residue was a solid waste generatedfrom strontium carbonate industry. The strontium residue was mainly used in roadpaving and construction at present, while strontium resources would be wasted. SoSrCO3powder with high purity, ultrafine was prepared from strontium residue, whichcould achieve the comprehensive utilization of strontium resource and reduce seriousenvironmental pollution.Strontium speciation transferring was investigated in strontium residue and mixingstrontium ore. There was33.25%strontium in strontium ore, and25.16%strontium instrontium residue. The result showed that there were strontium carbonate, strontiumsulfate, strontium sulfide, and a little amount of strontium silicate and strontium ferritein strontium residue. The amount of strontium sulfide in strontium residue was largerthan that in strontium ore, a little strontium silicate and strontium ferrite were found instrontium ore.The optimum conditions for strontium recycling from strontium residue bytwo-step conversion double decomposition method were as follows: the concentrationof hydrochloric acid was2.6mol/L, leaching time was2h, liquid-solid ratio was7:1,Na2CO3was used as conversion agent, the dosage of NH4Cl was5%of strontiumresidue. The recycling of strontium reached more than96%under these conditions. The experimental temperature was at60℃and ultrasonic time was45min, whichwas better for the purity and particle size of strontium carbonate. PAM had an importantinfluence on particle size distribution of strontium carbonate (the dosage was1.5%ofstrontium carbonate). Strontium carbonate products were characterized by XRD. Itsstructure belonged to orthorhombic system and the purity was95.08%, the recovery ofstrontium carbonate from strontium residue was90.36%.NH4Cl and sodium carbonate solution could be reused. When NH4Cl was catalyst, the reaction time could be shortened. Secondary strontium residue was mainly used forprocessing chrome, phosphorus wastewater, etc. The results were expected to provide anovel method about comprehensive utilization of strontium waste residue.
