Under certain temper and pressure, fiber metal laminates are solidified byusing metal sheet and fiber layer alternately, and it exhibits a mixture of thecharacteristics of both metals and composite materials. The FMLs,not onlyhave the high specific strength and specific rigid, but also have good toughnessand machining as the metals have. Especially, the most advantage of FMLs isthat it has excellent fatigue and impact. Although FMLs have been usedsuccessfully our country, few People have studied the FMLs in our country. The low velocity impact properties of the FLMs under different energy isstudied and experimented. Beside that, the properties of FLMs under the sameenergy and different composition layers is discussed and experimented. Theproperties of FLMs under the same energy and different composition layers isdiscussed and experimented. The experiments indicate that: for the same FLMs,the higher impact energy, the bigger Response load and plastic deformation, andthe specific absorption rate is gradually increasing. Besides, the compositionlayers can enhance the shock resistance of FLMs. The fact that FLMs Absorb theimpact energy through the plastic deformation of aluminum alloy Plate and thefibrous fracture of the composition layers can be gotten from the phenomena ofexperiments. We establish the finite element model based on explicit finite elementsoftware ABAQUS/Explicit and the mechanical model of laminated structure. The response of composite material by comparing the computed results with thetest data is inosculate.we can confirm that finite element analysis model iseffective to analyze composite laminated plate under low velocity impact. Besidethat, some expand analysis is done based on the models established in thesoftware ABAQUS. The low speed impact dynamic response of FLMs underdifferent thickness of aluminum Alloy Plate, different diameter of impact objectand different weight of the impact object. Some conclusions are obtained fromthe expand analysis.
