The small towns in the majority of cold regions in China due to lack of fundsand technical personnel, sewage treatment facilities are unable to run or onlylow-load operation, some small town of remote areas have not even build aneffective sewage treatment facilities. This study compared the sewage treatmentprocess at home and abroad for the Cold Region small town,proposed sequencebatch biofilm reactor (SBBR) with batch technical flexibility and biofilm stabilitycharacteristics,to resolve the characteristics of the cold region of small cities andtowns: sewage water are relatively small, more severe changes in water quality,water quality complex and volatile, construction and operating costs, the urbaninfrastructure is relatively backward, and a relative shortage of technicalpersonnel,and provide programs for the cold small town sewage treatment plantconstruction or the existing sewage treatment plant expansion.The study independent researched and developed a new suspended filler-strip bundle shaped silicone rubber tube&non-woven composite suspended filler,and discussed the surface modification methods for it; determined the best operatingconditions of the composite filler SBBR process and the stable operation at roomtemperature; Investigated the effect that composite filler SBBR system running atlow temperatures, and compared it with traditional SBR system.The filler that the research designed has the length of15mm, inner diameter of6mm outer diameter of9mm silicone rubber tube as a skeleton, and830×20mmnon-woven flank in the external.It was the flower type with specific surface area114m2/m3and density of0.93g/cm3. The filler has a good pass water and airpermeability, and free to roll in the reactor flow.Study determined the best way to modify the reinforcing material of the filler-silicone rubber tube modified is B etching agent and C cover agent combination.Modified silicone rubber surface has a large number of holes, and metal cationattachment.Its specific surface area, hydrophilic and pro-biological has improved.The running parameters are shown as follows: optimum filling proportion offiller30%, limiting aerobic inlet period0.5h, anaerobic period2h, aerobic period6h,the aerobic flow0.06m3/h, sedimentation period lh and effluent period0.5h. In thiscondition and room temperature, SBBR process has the removal efficiency of COD,NH3-N, TN and TP as95.2%,89.2%,72.6%and87.4%, which is higher than theremoval of the SBR system. Compared with SBR process, SBBR process can alsoincrease loading ability while striked.The study found that low temperature could influence the operation of composite filler SBBR system and traditional SBR system on COD and NH3-Nremoval, while SBBR is more adaptability to low temperature. When thetemperature is reduced from20℃to5℃, the COD removal efficiency of thetraditional SBR systems decreased by89.6%to77.2%,and the NH3-N removalrate decreased from76.9%to58.4%, while the composite fillings SBBR processremoval efficiency of COD and NH3-N at5℃could still be up to92%and78%.The phosphorus removal of the two systems was still good at Low temperature, theTP removal efficiency of the two systems under5℃were81.0%and74.5%. Thelow temperature will make the sludge settleability in the SBR system significantlyreduce, while the temperature went down to5℃from20℃, the SVI valueincreased from125to235; While the effect that low temperature makas on sludgesettling characteristics of the SBBR system is smaller, in the range of5-20℃, theSVI values were within the range of120to130.
