Natural rubber (natural rubber, NR), a highly elastic material obtained from the natural plant, is widely used in industrial production and scientific research because of its excellent overall performance and processing property. The fillers are usually added in the rubber to enhance the physical and mechanical properties of natural rubber products, which can reduce the industrial cost at the same time.Carbon black is the most widely used filler in rubber products. With the growing tension of the energy and continuous rise in oil price, the future scarcity of carbon black can be predicted. Therefore, it is important to find a new type of inorganic fillers to replace carbon black for reinforcing natural rubber. Purple Carbon black, inorganic minerals recently explored in Hainan province, can be considered as a filler for rubber products.In this paper, the and the purple carbon black with surface modification were filled in natural rubber matrix using the traditional mixing process. Systematically the effect of purple carbon dosage and curing system on the physical properties of purple carbon black/NR vulcanizates was studied. And the effect of the modifier type and amount on the physical properties and other relevant performance of gross rubber was also researched by dry surface modification process on purple carbon black. Then the structure and properties of the blend system were characterized by means of some analytical instruments such rubber process analyzer, scanning electron microscopy, infrared spectroscopy, thermal stability.The results showed that:the comprehensive physical properties of the vulcanized rubber gained from common vulcanization system (CV) perfected better than semi-efficient vulcanization system (SEV) and efficient vulcanization system (EV); the filled amount of the purple carbon black had a great influence on the mechanical properties of natural rubber. When20times of purple carbon black was filled in100times of natural rubber, reinforcement effect was the best; compared with the same amount of inorganic mineral filler filling system such as sericite, kaolin, clay eta l., the purple carbon black/natural rubbe had better physical and mechanical properties.Purple carbon black was modified with the coupling agent Si69, KH550and KH570, respectively. The results showed that the modifier variety and amount played an important role in the natural rubber reinforcing effect, and the best physical and mechanical properties appear in Si69modified purple carbon black/NR vulcanizate followed by KH55O, KH570successively; when the amount of Si69took up8%of the purple black, the tensile strength and tear strength of the obtained modified purple carbon black/NR vulcanizates reached29.48MPa and32.14(KN)·m-1,67.59%and55.10%increased compared to unfilled natural rubber material, respectively. SEM images show that the modified purple carbon black was uniformly dispersed in natural rubber matrix and the polymer interface is fuzzy, which indicated that the Si69effectively improved the compatibility between the Purple carbon black and natural rubber matrix. It was also showed that Tan Delta of purple carbon black/NR rubber compound is gradually increasing while G’and G" decreased with increasing strain. When the amount of purple carbon black took up20times, Tan Delta was small with G’and G" large, which indicated that the network structure formed with the purple carbon black particles could combine well with the natural rubber matrix molecular chain network, producing a larger interfacial force, so that the processing performance of the compound was greatly enhanced.The experimental results showed that the modified purple carbon black has the better reinforcement effect than unmodified purple carbon black. When20purple carbon black filled, the tensile strength and tear strength of modified purple carbon black/NR blend system increased22.58%and18.38%than those of the unmodified one, respectively, and TG analysis showed the purple carbon black and modified purple black filled system are conducive to improve the thermal stability of the vulcanizate. The addition of the coupling agent Si69can change surface properties of the purple carbon black, weaken its interaction, and damage the combination between the purple carbon black and natural rubber molecular chains. |
