The apron belt transmission system of the spindle is the most importantconstituent part of the twisting machine, which has been widely used. The internalstructure of the spindle and power consumption of the apron belt transmission systemaffect the quality of the twisting machine directly. This paper deals with the spindleand the apron belt transmission system. It analyzed the dynamics of the apron belt andmade the experiment of the spindle power consumption.At first, according to the structure, work process and force analysis of the spindle,we constructed the model of the spindle power consumption, summarized the factorswhich relate with the spindle power consumption. We designed the testing platformfor apron belt transmission system based on the analysis of these factors. Then maketo test the power consumption precisely.Secondly, we analyzed the force cases of the apron belt, the formula of the apronbelt deformation,and proposed a new method to calculate the tension of the apronbelt based on the harmonization relation which describes the apron belt deformation.With spindle’s power-consumption experimental result, calculated any tension of theapron belt, found the rules of the tension distribution, and confirmed the tensiondistribution of the whole apron belt.Thirdly, we carried the spindle power consumption test by two different ways: theaverage method and the differential method, and the demonstration of these twoways’ feasibility were emphasized. We tested the power consumption and spindle slipratio according to the preload of the apron belt, the spindle velocity and its’ contactangles. The tested data were drawn as the relationships among the preload of theapron belt, the velocity of the spindle and its’ contact angles. So, the minimumpreload of the apron belt and the minimum contact angles of the spindle wereconfirmed. We also analyzed the power consumption differences of the proposedways. Finally, we theoretically calculated the power consumption under a particularsituation. Combined the tested data, we revised the formula of the spindle powerconsumption. The BP neural network simulators of the test platform and twistingmachine were established to estimate the spindle power consumption and slip ratio.And then the apron belt transmission system was improved.
