A comparison of degradation effectiveness of phenol from wastewater wasstudied by potassium ferrate and potassium ferrate combined sodium hypochlorite. The effects of potassium ferrate and sodium hypochlorite dosage, oxidation time andpH of phenol on removal rate of phenol and CODcrwere explored at batch test. Theresults showed that the combination of potassium ferrate and sodium hypochloriteexisted obvious synergies. The removal rate of phenol and CODcrcould achieve98%and68%under the conditions that the concentration of phenol was50mg/L and thepH value was5, the reaction time was20min, and the dosage of potassium ferrateand sodium hypochlorite were1.5g/L and0.3g/L. Compared with of single use ofpotassium ferrate, the removal rate of phenol and CODcrhad an increase of5%and25%, respectively. The degradation course of phenol obeyed the one order kineticequation. The united process may provide instructive example for efficient treatmentof harmful and refractory organic wastewater.Degradation effectiveness of phenol from wastewater by K2FeO4releasing agentwere also studied in this paper, The effects of K2FeO4releasing agent dosage, oxidation time,pH and temperature of wastewater on removal rate of phenol andCODcrwere examined. The removal rate of phenol and CODcrcould achieve92.3%and43.2%under the conditions that the concentration of phenol was50mg/L and thepH value was3-9, the reaction time was40min, the dosage of K2FeO4releasing agentwas1.1g/L, and temperature of wastewater was20-60℃. Moreover, the formed flochad excellent sedimentation property.Phenol wastewater can also be treated efficiently by Iron chips micro-electrolysisprocess. The removal rate of phenol from wastewater reached90%under the optimumconditions, pH value3, iron filings dosage40g/L, react time13hours. The removalof phenol from wastewater in a reaction column of continuous reactor was studied,The running conditions were as follows: pH value of wastewater was3.0, react timewas24hours. Reaction column15days of use, efficiency is decreased, the phenolremoval rate decreased from90%to60%.
