The purpose of this study is resource utilization of the polished porcelain wastein ceramic industry, and physical, chemical properties of the polished waste wereanalyzed in detail. On this basic, environment friendly glazed tiles were prepared byhalf-dry press molding with the polished waste as a part of raw material, andlimestone, wollastonite, clay and the high temperature sand etc.The effects of raw material formulation, processing parameters on the waterabsorption, firing shrinkage, fired bulk density, fluxual strength, microstructure andphase composition etc. were quantitatively examined for these glazed tile samples.The resource utilization proportion of the polished waste in the raw material wasimproved by adding some ceramic raw materials of high viscosity at high temperatureto restrain the polished waste foaming during firing, through a series of exploringexperiments and with the new formulation. The raw material formulation andprocessing parameters were optimized by the orthogonal experiment.The experimental results showed that the optimal raw material formulation is thepolished waste30wt%, limestone10wt%, wollastonite10wt%, clay20wt%and thehigh temperature sand30wt%, the optimal processing parameters are the ball millingtime10minutes, firing temperature1140℃, holding time10minutes. Properties of theenvironment friendly glazed tiles prepared in the optical conditions were the firedbulk density1.77g/cm3, fluxual strength16.5MPa, water absorption18.5%and firingshrinkage1.2%, the main crystal phases were composed of quartz, anorthite and littlesoda-lime feldspar, there was a transition layer between the body and glaze, theseglazed tiles satisfied the requirements of typical glazed tile.This study provides efficient scientific data and technologies, and accords withthe national sustainable development policy of―green environmental protection‖. Itwill have an important guiding significance and reference value for the energy-savingand emission-reduction in building ceramic industry.
