With the rapid development of electronic technology, miniaturization for electroniccomponents has increased annually. Thus the low temperature co-firing ceramic (LTCC)technology is a research focus of passive chip components. Tape cast is the first processof LTCC technology. At present, it is mainly through the non-water-based tape castingprocess to prepare ceramic diaphragm for LTCC technology. However, it is harmful tohumans and the environment, which is added to the slurry the organic additive, nolonger meet current environmental philosophy. Therefore, the study of green, safewater-based tape casting process and applied in LTCC technology is necessary.Compared with the non-water-based tape cast technology, water-based tape castinghas many advantages. Such as low cost, no pollution. However, there are followingproblems on water-based tape casting technology, such as low powder infiltration, morebubble in slurry, low mechanical strength in tape, poor flexibility.Low dielectric ceramic powder DJ1026was prepared in LTCC tape casting. Theinfluences of the pH value, dispersant, solid loading, ball milling time, binder, the ratioof plasticizer and binder(R) have been studied systemically. The viscosity and sedimentare investigated. If the pH value is8~9, slurry was stable dispersed by0.5wt%B03after12h milling time. For PVA system, if PVA binder is1.5wt%, the R is0.6, the solidcontent is52wt%, the slurry had suitable rheological property. For emulsion system, theaddition of a binder R219/R270is5wt%, the S is2, the solid content is58wt%, we canget good rheological property. The strength and flexibility of green tape were measured by standard tensilestrength test. The relative density and shrinkage of fired green tape were measured toestimate the sintering properties of green tape. Experimental results show that theemulsion system have excellent mechanical properties and shrinkage rate is17~20%.
