Dancing costume plays an indispensable role in the art of dance. As early as thebeginning of the human beings, dancing costume has already shown its important value. Forinstance, those primitive dancing images carved in the caverns, cliffs, rocks or utensils wearfeathers and horns on their heads and use hides and tails as their accessories. Likewise, thoseexpressions in the ancient books like “A phoenix at court---an auspicious omen,”“Birds andanimals are in rhythm” are the earliest judging standards made by ancestors upon dancingcostume as well. With the rapid development of our society, dancing costume has shownmore incredible importance by not only offering audience enjoyment of beauty but alsobearing the weight of a nation’s ample and excellent cultural connotation.Although the researches on China’s many other national dancing costumes have beenimpeccable, the research on the culture of Daghur dancing costume is still blank, which offersthe author necessary evidence to make a selection of such a topic. Being the unique culturalphenomenon in the north of China, Daghur traditional folk culture was successfully named inthe list of national intangible cultural heritage in2006. At the same time, it has beenincreasingly valued by more and more domestic experts and scholars. So, it is undoubted tobelieve the inheritance and development of Daghur culture has been laid a foundation to someextent. Accordingly, starting from the research on the culture of Daghur dancing costume, thispaper is intended to make relevant researches and practices, aiming to let more people learnthe Daghur culture so as to continue in-depth experience-sharing and discussion on it.Meanwhile, this research provides the culturology of dancing costume of our ChineseMinorities with information and conditions. Finally, the research tries to improve Daghurtraditional dancing costume by blending in with modern design elements to create a betterstage effect, making it ceaselessly move forward on the innovative way. It is both a problemof dancing costume of our Chinese Minorities to be tackled and a trait of its development atthe present time. In addition, the research meets the demands of accelerating the developmentof culture and art of the Minorities and small nations in the remote areas and urges people towell protect and inherit Daghur culture---the intangible cultural heritance, makingcontributions to the inheritance, development and propagation of Daghur culture.By applying the methods of literature materials, on-the-spot survey, case studiescross-multidiscipline and Network research, the paper makes a rational analysis on Daghurdancing costume and gives equal consideration to the practical research. Proceeding from the origin, evolution as well as the development of Daghur dancing costume and integrating withthe historic background of its formation, the paper analyses its traits and aestheticrequirements. Through case studies, this paper discusses the innovative improvement ofDaghur dancing costume in order to offer some references for its development and theestablishment of the culture theory on its corresponding national dancing costume to betterinherit Daghur traditional culture and art and also make good supplement and perfection forconstructing the system of dancing costume of Minorities.
