ABS plastic can very well replace the metal as the structure material in the machinery,the automobile manufacture, the electrical equipment making, the chemical engineering, andthe construction industry etc with the properties of lightness, innocuity impact strength etc asone of the most useful Engineering materials. It has the surface properties of both plastic andmetal such as the low cost, the lightness and the easy machining etc after the metal plating.The bottom copper layer of ABS was got by the new basic plating technology which has thegood adhering effect on ABS and can be combined with the composite plating surface becausethe base copper can be damaged in the composite plating liquid by the traditional acid platingtechnology. The technical parameters were determined such as the basic plating liquid, theelectric current density and pH etc.The composite plating layer was made on the copper layer of ABS using nano TiO2, SiO2and graphite as the dispersion particles by electro-deposition technology in order to improvevastly the self-lubrication and the corrosion resistance of ABS surface. The effects on thehardness, and the friction coefficient of the composite layer such as the electric current densityof cathode, the concentration of the emulsion, the concentration of nano particles, the stirringrate and pH etc were discussed; The feature and The performance were tested in this paper.The preferred technology of the basic copper plating on ABS shown as following:Cu(OH)2·CuCO3(50g/L), C6H8O7(120g/L), C6H5Na3O7(125g/L), C4H4O6KNa·4H2O(30g/L),NaHCO3(10g/L). pH=8.anode:phosphor copper electrode,electric current density:1.0A/dm,room temperature, time:30min.The preferred technology of the composite plating:NiSO4(25g/L), NaAc(9.3g/L),NaH2PO2(23g/L), nanoTiO2(2g/L), nano SiO2(1.5g/L), graphite(1.5g/L) twain-80(0.4g/L),OP-10(0.6g/L), pH=4.5, cathode electric current density4.0A/dm.The smooth and neat nanocomposite plating layer on ABS are got by the technology, which has the wear-resisting, theself-lubrication and the corrosion resistance.
