Visible/near infrared coating attracts the attention of the world military branch, due to its simple production technology and low cost, and has wide applicationprospects. At present, most of researchers are studying visible/near infrared coatingand producing the near infrared army combat uniform by printing with visible/nearinfrared coating. There exist differences infrared radiation energy between the bodyand environment because of the high surface emissivity of ordinary army combatuniform, and cannot achieve thermal infrared stealth effectively. With green vegetation and desert grass as simulation background, and the maincolor of green in jungle camouflage and yellow in desert camouflage as simulationobject, the infrared camouflage paints were prepared with selective green and yellowpigments and copper powder as functional filler. The effects of pigment types, theweight content and size of metal powder on emissivity were investigated. The visible/near infrared reflectance and thermal infrared properties of polyester/cottoncamouflage fabric were characterized by ultraviolet/near infrared spectrophotometerand infrared camera respectively. The results show that: The emissivity of cotton/polyester blended camouflagefabrics can be changed by adding different metal powder in the coatings. Theemissivity of metal powder is related to its size, shape and diameter. Considering thelaser and radar stealth, the content of metal was controlled within12%. The yellowcamouflage fabrics prepared had the lowest emissivity that was0.581, and meet thebasic requirements of visible-near infrared stealth. The low emissivity oftitanium-nickel yellow, cobalt blue and right amount of metal powder were mixed toget compound green coating. Printed light green camouflage fabric which theemissivity is0.711. In addition, the practice of the thermal infrared camouflage fabrics wereresearched preliminary. The emissivity and thermo gravimetric analyses of threecamouflage fabrics of different colors were researched, and three different colors wereyellowish brown, dark green and light green. The study indicated that these threecamouflage fabrics can meet thermal infrared stealth under certain conditions andhave certain high temperature resistance.
