| Yulin is rich in its coal resources, which is filled with168billion tons resources. In re-cent years, there is a more rapid development that the low metamorphic bituminous coals areused for the production of coke. Yulin is equipped for with unique advantages of “3tall4lowâ€: a fixed high carbon, high chemical activity, high resistivity, low ash, low aluminum andlow sulfur as well as low phosphorus. According to statistics, there is an annual output of20billion tons of coke in Yulin and surrounding areas. With advanced technology appliedceaselessly, especially the concept of circular economy goes in to permeate; based on t cokeproduction mode purely in the past, coke industry gradually expand the chain downstream, inwhich the activated carbon by coal activation has great potential for development.In this paper, with different machine-made semicoke from northern Shaanxi as rawmaterial, the activated carbon with multi nanopores mainly distributed in1.9~2.9nm and10.2~48.6nm, BET specific surface area of810.02m2/g, Langmuir specific surface area of1077.23m2/g, the average pore diameter of65.793and iodine adsorption value1096.6mg/g was successfully prepared by KOH activation method at high temperature with nitrogenflow of100mL/min and heating rate of5°C/min in tube atmosphere furnace after thehydrogen peroxide pre-oxidation. The effects of activation temperature and time,alkali/carbon ratio, the mixed styles of raw materials, pre-oxidation treatment on theadsorption properties of activated carbon were discussed. The maximum surface areaactivated carbon preparation process was determined. The activated carbon with iodineadsorption value of1096.6mg/g was prepared with Xingmao semicoke as raw materials,KOH dry powder as activator, the activation temperature of800°C, the activation time of1h,and alkali/carbon ratio of5. Most environmental protection and economy process is Xingmaosemicoke as raw materials, KOH aqueous solution with1/2saturation concentration asactivator, the activation temperature of800°C, the activation time of1h, and alkali/carbonratio of1. The activated carbon prepared according to this process has the iodine adsorption value of860.2mg/g. The semicoke after pre-oxidation by hydrogen peroxide generates acertain amount of-COOH groups on the surface. During the activation process, the activefunctional groups on the surface are increased. The activated carbon obtained has many activefunctional groups of the carboxyl group, hydroxyl group, carbonyl group, etc. and also hasrich ether bond, aromatic ring and olefinic bond. KOH dry powder activation to carbonoccurrs at about800°C. KOH solution activation mechanism is that KOH activation occursafter water activation and KOH plays catalytic action on the water activation. The activatedcarbon preparation technology with semicoke as raw material can encourage the developmentof the coal polygeneration technology, also makes full use of coal resources in a favorableway. |
