Aluminum alloy has a lot of advantages in high corrosion resistance, high specific strength, lowdensity, low cost and so on, so it has been widely used in aeronautics and astronautics industry andautomotive industry, which holds a irreplaceable position. Today as the aggravation of the worldwideenergy crisis, it has become a trend that more and more high-strength aluminum alloys are applied inaircraft and automobile, in order to get a good fuel economy and save energy. In room temperature,the plasticity of aluminum alloy is not good enough, but thermal forming method is a good way tosolve this problem, so it is significant to study on thermal forming process.In this paper, the warm formability of5754aluminium alloy which is imported from the USAand6016aluminium alloy which is the first batch made in Southwest aluminum co., ltd areresearched deeply. And the main research content is shown below:1. The warm formability of imported5754aluminium alloy and native6016aluminium alloy hasbeen researched in the range of medium temperature. The main formability parameters and differentmechanical properties have been measured which can be used to study Hollomon equation.2. Considering the requirements of different strain paths and experimental temperature, the warmmould for bulging has been designed which is used to measure and draw the forming limit diagram.3. Using the measured warm formability of5754aluminium alloy to study the warm formingprocess of the hood inner in the CAE software.Through the research above, some conclusions can be made:1. The crucial parameters of formability related to temperature and strain rate have been studied,the Hollomon material equations for5754and6016aluminium alloy have been created which can bethe material base in the CAE software.2. According to the elongations of the two kinds of Alluminium alloies at warm temperature, itcan be found that the plasticity of5754Alluminiu alloy is propotional to the temperature, but6016Alluminium alloy has this law just at the range from20℃to150℃, the plasticity of6016Alluminiumalloy don not get better obviously at150℃~300℃.3. Through the multi-path warm forming experiment, the forming limit diagram of5754and6016aluminium alloy at different temperatures have been drawn which are the new instabilitycriterion in FMA. It can be concluded that5754Alluminium alloy is good for warm forming and6016Alluminium alloy do not suit for warm forming.4. Based on the parameters measured in warm temperature of5754, the stamping process of hood inner has been simulated in Dynaform and the vertification experiment has been did in factory too.The main affecting factors of stamping process, such as draw beads, blank holder force, frictioncoefficient and blank thickness, have been concluded and analyzed, which is useful for the industryapplication of this kind of aluminum alloy.
