Eutectic Al-Si alloy and hypoeutectic Al-Si alloy which is close to theeutectic composition has excellent casting properties (such as small shrinkage,good fluidity, small hot cracking tendency), good mechanical properties andmachinability, which have more and more wide application in the automotive,telecommunications industries. Meanwhile the requirement in the industry forthe mechanical properties and compactness of die castings are higher andhigher, while the die-casting is to fill the cavity with the liquid metal underthe high-speed, which lead to the liquid metal into a turbulent state, andtrapped gas easily, then affect the die casting quality. Therefore, the study ofthe effecting law of the die casting process on the microstructure andmechanical properties of die castings is important to choose the proper diecasting process of the actual production.In this paper, according to the simulation results of the filling process aswell as actual production experience select pouring temperature, fast shotspeed and casting pressure three process parameters, study the effect on themechanical properties, inner porosity defect and microstructure of thehypoeutectic Al-Si alloy die castings when change the above three processparameters of the above three parameters and the impact of differentmicrostructure on the die-casting performance. The results show that thelower the pouring temperature, the lower the faster shot speed, the highercasting pressure, the.-solid solution and primary silicon and eutectic siliconare more fine and dense, the size and the quantity of porosity decrease, thedensity of the casting is bigger, the mechanical properties of the castings arebetter. And the fracture analysis of the tensile specimen also shows the transition of the casting fracture from brittle to ductile mode.
