As one of the conventional energy resources, utilization of the straw is decreasingannually with economic growth. There is still much waste straw in the field withoutconcerning after fertilization, producing biogas, feeding animals and fungus breeding.Most of it will be burned directly with low energy utilization rate and high flue gastemperature, which causes energy waste and environmental pollution. The combustionprocess of Room temperature compression straw molding fuel is steady, with low fluegas temperature and low smoke dust concentration and the net emission of CO2is0. Itis a kind of renewable energy sources which can replace the conventional energysources.The paper is aiming at designing a simple method of compressing and forming ofstraw fuel by studying the deficiency of straw briquette in our country and by combingthe energy-using actuality and the distribution of straw resources in rural areas inShaanxi province. It will provide the reliable basis and precious advices for applicationand popularization of straw briquette fuel technologies in rural areas.The paper studied the technology of briquette fuel from straw at room temperature,and the experiments were designed for analyzing the characteristics of raw materials,factor impacted the forming, combustion performance and the economic returns. Theeffects of particle size of raw material, adhesives and typed pressure on forming resultsduring the forming process was compared and the changes of temperature andcomponent of smoke as well as the heat utilization rate during the combustion processwas analyzed.The results indicated that the best confectioning performance was observed whenthe particle diameter was between1.5and2mm, the ratio of raw material and cement was1:1and the pressure is2500kPa. The fuel brick with surface area1.5×10-2m2is ofthe best combustion performance and the most cost-saving. The concentration ofcombustion products is much lower than the national standard. The technology, whichis benefit for the popularization and application, is a kind of efficient and clean energyutilization technologies.
