This project studies the preparation of layered double hydroxides(LDHs) and its use in flame retardant paper preparation. The mainsubjects are as follows:LDHs containing different kinds of metallicelements were prepared in a self-made reactor by chemical precipitationmethod and then were characterized. How the number of elementscontained in the LDHs would affect the flame retardant properties of thenano composites were studied from the characterization of the LDHs; theoptimal formula for four-element LDHs for the flame retardant paperwere pinned down with analysis and were made into LDHs/flameretardant paper; APAM with LDHs formed LDHs/APAM composite filmon the surface of the plant fiber, the plant fiber were made into flameretardant paper, the most suitable preparation technology of thisLDHs/APAM composite film for plant fiber were determined accordingto the combustion properties and mechanical properties of flame-retardantpaper.The results show that50~150nm lamellar LDHs are prepared in aself-made reactor by coprecipitation method, the flame retardant propertyof the flame retardant paper are relative to the metallic element containsin LDHs and improves with more metallic elements in LDHs. LDHs aremodified by PEG and other coupling agents in this paper and theproperties of the flame retardant paper were improved as well as thecompatibility and interfacial compatibility between plant fiber and LDHs.Especially, PEG-2000improve the properties of the composites most; theamount of interlayer water of LDHs and the flame retardant property ofLDHs as well are affected by Zn2+and Fe3+contained; The formation ofLDHs/APAM composite film can improve the physical properties of theflame retardant paper, and the flame resistance of the resultant flameretardant paper meet the requirement of GB/T14656-2009.
