Synthesis And Properties Of Hydrophobic Acrylate

Paper water-proofing agent which is prepared by acrylate resin is Polymer, and it can beused in inner and surface sizing to the waterproof. The waterproof agent has goodfilm-forming water repellent, high waterproof effect. And it can be fixed on the fiber surfaceor soaked to the internal of the paper to play a hydrophobic effect, while the permeability,softness, strength, printability, color and other basic properties of the paper are of no change.So the agent has a good prospect in using hydrophobicity paper, such as the photographicpaper, map paper, high-end labels, special packaging, disposable tableware and other papers.The waterproof agent for paper using butyl acrylate, issoctyl acrylate, styrene as themain monomer, it was prepared by emulsion acrylic resin and it was characterized by FTIR.Selected modification of acrylic resins, studied the monomers ratio on the waterproofproperties of the polymer, the reaction temperature, reaction time, initiator dosage on theconversion of the polymer, and tested the stability of emulsion. At last obtain the best set ofacrylic resin production process.Use the waterproof agent as the inner sizing agent to deal with the paper. The effect ofthe waterproof agent dosage, dosage of the retention aid, the beating of degree, residence timewas studied, and the paper waterproof properties were tested with infiltration method andcontact angle method. Finally the paper was characterized by SEM. The results shown thatwhen the waterproofing agent were5%,1.2%of the amount of retention agent, beating degreeof32°SR, residence time9min, the paper’s penetration of the sample more than24hours, thecontact angle101.04°. The results suggested that the paper had excellent hydrophobicproperties. It met requirements of special waterproof paper.Use the waterproof agent as the surface sizing agent dealing with the paper. It displayless using but obvious effect, keep the high rate and so on. The effects of the waterproof agentdosage, PVA dosage, the cationic starch dosage on waterproof properties were studied, andthe paper waterproof properties were tested with infiltration method and contact angle method.Finally, the paper sample was characterized by SEM. The results shown that the paper hadexcellent hydrophobic properties when the waterproof agent dosage0.8%, PVA dosage2.0%,the cationic starch dosage1.5%, with burst strength, tensile strength, tear resistance and folding endurance increased by78.2%,100.9%,50.0%,860%respectively and permeabilityreduced by44.7%.
