Presently, hydrogen is a ideal high-quality clean fuel. Hydrogen is produced mainly by fossil energy such as coal oil and gas catalytic steam reforming of natural gas. However, as non-renewable resources are depleted, it must be develop a sustainable method. A number of ways for producing renewable hydrogen are being investigated. Of all the renewable resources, biomass catalytic pyrolysis has been seen as the most promising technology for producing renewable hydrogen.First, with the TGA experiment, the pyrolysis behavior of two kinds of biomass (rice husk and pine) was researched. The heating rates were5K/min,10K/min,20K/min and40K/min respectively. The terminal temperature was1173K under nitrogen atmosphere. The results show that pine produces more volatile during pyrolysis process, and less residues than rice husk after pyrolysis. As the heating rate increasing, the TG and DTG curve move to the high temperature zone.In order to investigate the research on the effect of its operating conditions on pyolysis characteristics, a fluidized bed as a simulated pyrolysis reactor was made for it. Study the influence of experimental conditions such as, pyrolysis temperature, kinds of particles on fluidized status and kinds of biomass on biomass catalytic pyrolysis, provided the basic data for researching the effect of CO2sorbent on biomass catalytic pyrolysis. The results show that the gas products of biomass pyrolysis increased with increasing temperature, the liquid products decrease with increasing temperature. During three kinds of streaming media, Ni-Mo has the best catalytic properties, followed by γ-AI2O3, silica sand almost has no activity. During pyrolysis processing, the catalytic effect of catalyst on pine is stronger than on rice husk, therefore produces more hydrogen. In order to further investigate the effect of catalytic pyrolysis secondary reactions on biomass catalytic pyrolysis, the experiment of adding CO2sorbent during pyrolysis process was conducted. The results show that CO2sorbent obviously promotes the secondary phase reactions of the biomass primary decomposition products, the products shift towards the production of hydrogen. The amount of hydrogen increases with the increase of Ca/C ratio in adding CaO sorbent. The maximum of the volume fraction of hydrogen and hydrogen yield were observed as adding Ca(OH)2sorbent. In addition, the H2O, produced by Ca(OH)2decomposes during the catalytic pyrolysis process, was the reactant of biomass secondary reaction and WGS reaction, and Ca(OH)2sorbent further improve the hydrogen production in pyrolysis.
