Computer ink color matching system is one of the most important researchfocuses in printing industry. K-M theory and artificial neural network theory are thetwo main models used in ink color matching system. The artificial neural networktheory which is based on fuzzy mathematics and simulates the nerve conductiveproperties received considerable attention because it has the advantages of highaccuracy and strong flexibility.Spot ink color matching system of lithographic printing based on artificial neuralnetwork theory was studied in this paper. Elman neural network was applied andcompleted to be perfected in color matching system. Spot color printing samples wereprepared and the correspondent color ink parameters were measured by experiment.Then data for spot ink color matching of glossy coated paper were obtained and therelations between the data and chromaticity were modeled to get the spot color gamutof various color system. Finally the sub-system of spot color matching system wasdeveloped.The results developed in this paper help to do further research in choosing theappropriate ink to print and to improve the printing quality according to printingmaterials and techniques.
