Most of the clothes worn in autumn and winter are made of synthetic fiber, because of the liber’s special structure, static electricity is easily produced when wearing such clothes, then the clothes attract dust and be dirty easily,and winding human bodys to arise discomfort, which bring great inconvenience to People’s Daily life.Using surface active agent to form a layer of film in fiber surface is a traditional antistatic finishing method, which reduce the the fiber’s friction coefficient and at the same time enhance the surface hygroscopic, then the static electricity can easily go away, so the half-life of the charge shorted. The process of this method is simple, and the agent with long-term effect has been produced, but when relative humidity is very low, antistatic effect is not obvious.In1960s, stainless steel fibers emerged, which can be used as conductive textile fibers. Subsequently an organic conductive liber coaled with carbon was also developed. But dyeing is difficult for the fabric embedded with such fibers.Sol-gel technique is an important new technology of the portland field at the end of the20th century to the beginning of the21st century, firstly raw materials is scattered in solvent, active monomers generated after hydrolysis reaction, at the same time the active monomers polymerized to become sol, then turn to gel with a certain spatial structure, after drying and heating treatment nano-parliclcs and certain materials are achieved, ft is possible to make functional fabric according to the sol-gel technique principles. Different sols can applied to fabric through dipping, then drying in certain condition, a thin transparent metal or silicon film are formed on fabric surface. Kinds of functions can be achieved through physical or chemical changes to the sol.The application of alumina sol on antistatic finishing of polyester fabric was studied in this paper. A stable and transparent alumina sol was synthesized with aluminium isopropoxide as precursor via the sol-gel technology. The particle size and distribution of alumina sol were examined by nano-particle size analyzer and the average particle size was approximately10nm. When used to polyester fabric, the finishing condition was also discussed through orthogonal test. The best baking condition is:160℃, lmin. After finishing with alumina sol the half life period of the polyester fabric fell from longer than130s to shorter than0.5s, static voltage fell from higher than1300V to lower than50V. After washing for half an hour in the hot water of40℃, antistatic performance descended. So the washing fastness needed to be improved.The effect of alumina sol on the polyester fabric performance was examined in this paper. The properties of the fabric were tested through related instruments, the results showed that the permeability, moisture permeability, elasticity, breaking strength and tear strength all reduced slightly, but the impact was small.Experiments were carried out to improve washing fastness of the antistatic performance with the permeable agent and dispersant. The experimental results showed that the washing fastness was not improved, and the antistatic performance was worse than without the permeable agent and dispersant. The possible reason may be that the permeable agent and dispersant wrapped nano particles and impact the antistatic performance. The permeable agent and dispersant just made the nanoparticles scattered more even, can not improve the combination between the nanoparticles and fabric. So this method was not feasible.Experiments were carried out to improve the antistatic performance after washing with Al/Si composite sol. The experimental results showed that after washing30times, the static voltage was619V, the half-life was1.73s. When NSi:NAl=10:1, washing fastness was the best.
