Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and Croscarmellose Sodium (CCMC-Na) are two kinds of important medicinal materials. As new material, MCC not only used as disintegrating agent, but also used as adhesive and diluent. CCMC-Na is used as super disintegrant. At present, the performance gap between domestic and foreign MCC products is a bit larger; the preparation process of CCMC-Na is being perfected. In this paper, two different pulp sources are used as raw material to study the preparation of MCC. The carboxymethyl cellulose sodium, of which substitution degree is0.84, is used as raw material to study thermal cross-linked and microwave cross-linked CCMC-Na preparation processes.Imported and domestic pulps are used as raw material to prepare the MCC. The influence of hydrochloric acid and reaction time on the product angle of repose, bulk density and water absorption swelling are studied on quality and yield. Results showed that, in most cases, the MCC indexes used imported pulp preparation is better than that of ordinary pulp, yield is also higher. When the reaction temperature is100℃, the reaction time is45min and the concentration of hydrochloric acid is0.4mol· L-1, the swelling of MCC prepared by imported pulp is1.7mL; when the concentration of hydrochloric acid is0.3mol· L-1, the swelling of MCC prepared by domestic pulp is1.6mL. The quality and performance of products are compared in the self-made, domestic manufacturers and foreign manufacturers, results show that the swelling, tablet hardness and disintegration time of MCC prepared by imported pulp are basically the same indexes with foreign products. The structure of MCC is characterized by FTIR and XRD.In order to study the influence of preparation process on the properties, the CMC-Na with0.84substitution degree is used to produce CCMC-Na by microwave-heating method and thermal-heating method. The results show that the optimum preparation conditions of thermal cross-linking method:75%ethanol-water solution,14%sulfuric acid, heating time35min at75℃and the optimal preparation conditions of microwave method:80%ethanol-water solution,14%sulfuric acid, microwave power of630W about11min. By comparing the disintegration propertie of two methods preparing products, the results show that microwave products is much better in the effect of disintegration. The structure of CCMC-Na produced by microwave-heating and thermal-heating method is characterized by FTIR.
