Schedule Management Research On Emerson Company Potting Line Project

In recent years, labor cost is raising continuously in China, causes product cost increasedaccordingly. In order to improve competitive force, the best choice is automation. Becausemost automation project is nonstandard, and has big investment, complex technique, manyuncertain factors etc., so it needs to use effective management to ensure project success.Project management as an effective management method applies on every walk of life, canimprove project’s management efficiency, its advantage emerges gradually. As a critical partof project management, schedule management can ensure project come true base on theschedule target.This dissertation studies the schedule planning and schedule controlling base on EmersonCompany potting line project, it introduces schedule management at home and abroad,summarizes the project status, issues and the root causes. In schedule planning, we use WBSmethod to divide project activity into jobs, arrange their sequence, estimate their duration, andmake a preliminary schedule. According to Emerson company status, we use Gantt chart toanalyze and optimize jobs duration, and make a final schedule plan. In schedule controlling,we establish dynamic monitor and control system to check and monitor jobs implement status.Through the system, we can do the root cause and effect analysis of schedule deviation. Baseon analysis result, we use corrective action to fix the schedule deviation and ensure projectactual schedule meet the schedule planning.This dissertation summarizes the experience and defect of schedule management forEmerson Company potting line project. After apply schedule management, the said project issuccessful. With the operation normally, flow stability, technology maturely and facilitycompletely, potting line enter into auto and large-scale production phase, the economic andsocial benefit increasingly apparent.
