Research has shown that adding nano inorganic powder in PE materialswill improve the electrical insulation properties of the material.However thenano-composite material can absorb moisture easily in the air, and thus lead tothe deterioration of its electrical insulation properties. The research of changes inthe electrical properties of the nanocomposites moisture absorption and theimpact mechanism has important significance. In order to study the impact andthe impact mechanism of the moisture absorption to the electrical properties ofnanocoposites,MgO/LDPE and SiO2/LDPE of3wt%mass fraction whichabsorbed moisture in air humidity has been used to research.And suchfollowing works were carried out in this paper:(1) The research of nanocomposite electrical characteristics in recent yearshave been disscused in this paper,the theoretical of the nano-dielectric materialsand the reason and result of the moisture absorption to the materials also havebeen shown.The quantity of moisture absorption of the LDPE and MgO/LDPEmaterials under air humidity has been tested,the experimental result show that thenanocomposite material has a greater ability to absorb water than LDPEmaterial.The water absorbed in the air in nano-materials can not be remove allafte80℃vacuum process.(2) The conductance characteristics, the resistance to the DC breakdownstrength and space charge characteristics of dry nanomaterials and LDPEmaterials under the same conditions has been discussed.The results show that thematerial DC breakdown strength will be enhanced, the conductance of thematerial will be significantly smaller which the is approximately about twoorders of magnitude level, while the space charge injection will significantly fewer after adding nano-particles into the material.(3) The influence of moisture absorption to the electrical properties ofnanocomposite and LDPE materials has been researched. The result show that theconductivity increased, the breakdown strength decreased, the inhibitory capacityof the space charge disappears after moisture absorption of the compositematerials. The breakdown strength and the conductivity properties willrecover,while the ability to inhibit space charge can not be restored after80℃vacuum process of LDPE and nanocomposite materials.
