The development of China’s railway has come into high speed period since April1,1997, and the rail network covering the whole country will be more intensive. In the railway track interchange, the railway turnout is the important part as the connect of the whole railway network, it supports sirculate loads while it’s working. The ZGMn13was selected as the main material of the railway turnout because of its impact resistance, abrasion resistance and the lower price. But the ZGMn13’s higher toughness and the semi-closed drilling environment lead to serious chip winding, extrusion, at last, cause serious breakage of the drill. The main contents of this paper is centering on the improvement of the tool structure and solving the chip disposal of the rail turnout’s processing.First of all, this paper establishes simplified mathematical model of the chip breaking, according to the model, obtains the main factors influencing the chip’s breaking are the structure of the blade, the feed and the properties of the blade’s material. This paper establishes the mathematical model of the chip flowing, according to the model, obtains the main factors influencing the chip’s flowing is the width of the chip breaker groove. Then, I designs the new tool’s structure combined with the ZGMn13’s work hardening.The drilling process of the general structure blade, the blade with chip-breaker groove, the blade with chip-breaker groove and disintegrate chip groove is analyzed by the finite element software-Deform. From the simulation, we can obtain the state of the chips, the axial force, the torque and the distribution of the stress-effective. Then this paper determines the drill’s structure and its material according to the result of finite element simulation analysis, the drill’s cutting properties and its strength requirement.This paper analyzes the experimental results of the ZGMn13drilling processing which is completed by the new drill with different size of breaker groove, and determines the width of the chip breaker groove according to the result. This paper analyzes the experimental results of the ZGMn13drilling processing at different feed and determines the feed. This paper compares the result between the new drill at the new feed and the drill with conventional structure at the ordinal feed, verifies the feasibility of the drill’s structure and the feed’ improvement.
