Methanol is one of important chemical raw materials, can used in producing a variety of chemical products, for example formaldehyde、formic acid and so on. With the rapid development of science and technology and the improvement of industrial technology, the application of methanol becomes more and more broad. Nowadays, as a new type of automotive fuel, the demand of methanol will be increase. With the improvement of demand, there has mutated into an ordeal for industrial production.Distillation is a significant process of methanol production, the control of distillation column play an important role on the quality of methanol, otherwise, it is also an effective method of reducing energy consumption. The background of the essay is an actual project of methanol manufacture, the study subject is the process of methanol distillation. Based on actual craft procedures of methanol production, analyzing the process parameter of methanol distillation and knowing the requirement of the distillation column control, a series of strategies of control about methanol distillation column has been designed, it includes pressure control, heat duty control and materials control. Aspen Dynamic software has been taken advantage of to simulate the strategies of control, using practical parameters of the industrial project to build models of distillation columns. By way of simulation, the effectiveness of strategies has been tested, ensuring the quality of production to reach the requirement.
