AION is an important class of oxide polycrystalline transparent ceramic materials, in a wide-band (UV-IR) has good transparency, good mechanical properties, excellent physical and chemical properties, is the preferred window material, widely used in lasers, armor, infrared detection, and many other fields, has broad application prospects.In this paper, the synthesis of carbon thermal reduction method AION powder as raw material, the choice of Y2O3, La2O3and MgO as sintering aids were prepared by pressureless sintering AION transparent ceramics, research Y2O3respectively La2O3,MgO composite mixing, the sintering aids AION transparent ceramics for phase composition, influence of microstructure, optical and mechanical properties. The results show that:0.01wt%La2O3and Y2O3(0.15-0.4wt%) compound as a sintering aid,ceramics obtained are single-phase composition with AION, Y2O3content is0.3wt%when the sample, the content of smaller pores, higher density, and more uniform grain size distribution, the larger the infrared transmittance (about50%), the highest hardness;0.02wt%La2O3and Y2O3(0.15-0.6wt%) compound as a sintering aid, only when Y2O3content is0.4wt.%and0.5wt.%, the transparent ceramics obtained is a single-phase A1ON, and when Y2O3content is0.4wt.%and the grain size of the ceramic distribution is more uniform, higher sample density, the infrared transmission and hardness greater;0.3wt%or0.4wt%Y2O3and La2O3as a sintering aid composite, the optimum dosage of La2O30.02wt%.and Y2O3content is0.4wt.%, that is0.4wt.%Y2O3+0.02wt.%La2O3, won the single-phase and phase composition of the optimal performance of A ION transparent ceramics, even the ceramic microstructure, density of99.3%, the infrared transmittance is72.9%, the hardness of16.85GPa;0.2wt%MgO and Y2O3(0.1-0.5wt%) compound as a sintering aid, ceramics obtained are single-phase composition with AION, when the Y2O3content is0.3wt%when the porosity content of the sample is small, high density, and more uniform grain size distribution, the larger the infrared transmittance (about40%), the highest hardness; when0.3wt%MgO and Y2O3(0.1-0.5wt.%) compound as a sintering aid, while the range of Y2O3content0.1-0.4wt.%variation, transparent ceramics obtained are single-phase AION, and when the Y2O3content to0.4wt%when the grain size and more uniform distribution of ceramic,high sample density, infrared transmittance and hardness greater;0.3wt%or0.4wt%Y2O3and MgO composite as a sintering aid when the best MgO content is0.25wt.%, and Y2O3content when0.4wt.%(0.4wt.%Y2O3+0.25wt.%MgO) won the single-phase and phase composition of the optimal performance of AION transparent ceramics, the ceramic microstructure uniformity,density of99.4%, an infrared transmittance of73.6%, hardness16.78GPa.Through experiments, the optimum ratio of the composite sintered aid is0.02wt%+0.4wt%Y2O3or0.25wt%MgO+0.4wt%.
