Refractory material is the basic material for the field of high-temperature technology,mainly used in various fields of thermal equipment, such as coke ovens, blast furnaces and soon, therefore the quality of refractory material impacts on the safety of thermal equipmentdirectly. Refractory material produced by most current enterprise has internal defects such ascracks, holes etc. The system of ultrasonic on-line detection about refractory materialachieves a good effect on the defect inspection of refractories to improve quality and safety.In this paper, according to the principle of ultrasonic detection and defect characteristicsof refractory material, the system of refractory low-frequency ultrasound treatment wasdesigned by the method of double probe vertical contact, the pre-processing of ultrasonic echosignals was realized and an acquisition and control system of high-speed data based on USBwas developed to acquire and store high-speed echo data. An interface of ultrasonic testingwith LABVIEW was developed, it realized many functions, such as the parameter settings,waveform display, holes diameter recognition etc.By comparing the characteristics and differences of echo waveform of the artificialdefects in the top, middle, bottom of hole with the non-hole.Time-domain amplitude,time-domain energy and frequency-domain energy algorithms were put forward to effectivelydetect flaw signals. The method of time-domain amplitude was adopted to determine whetheror not there is defect accurately. Through testing standard injury of different apertures andlocations, the calculation function of defect apertures was matched to determine the aperturesize according to the echo signal and test precision could reach2.64mm.The standardcomponents with artificial flaws were detected and the test results verified the accuracy ofultrasonic testing system of refractory material.
