Amino acid salts with long-chain N-amide group have been developed assurfactants and organic reagents since early1980s. The compounds themselves havemany excellent properties, such as, safety, biodegradability, surfactant andbiocompatibility, etc. They have been gradually used in the preparation of high-classdetergents and cosmetics because of their excellent features. By studying theirchemical and biological effects, it was found that many specific N-acyl-amino acidhave pharmacological activity, sterilization and chiralresolution. In this article, varietyof high-purity optically active N-long chain acyl amino acid monomer weresuccessfully prepared under low temperature conditions. The reaction conditions areas follows: amino acids as the chiral pool, unsaturated acryl chloride as the acylatingagent, an organic solvent-water mixture as the reaction solvent phase. Thestructure and performance of the monomers were confirmed and characterized via1HNMR spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, melting point apparatus, automatic polarimeter. In addition, the correspondingoptically active homopolymers were successfully prepared by twomethod,i.e.,solution polymerization and ionic liquid polymerization, and usingFourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FT-IR), Nuclear Magnetic ResonanceSpectroscopy (1H NMR)to determine the structure of the polymers, using AutomaticPolarimeter, Differential Scanning Calorimeter(DSC) to measur their performances. Finally, hydrogels was successfully prepared using N-acrylamido-L (D)-alaninemonomer as chiral pool. the chiral selectivity of hydrogels was examined by UV.Several molecular imprinted polymers (MIP) was also successfully prepared selecingN-acryloyl-L (D)-phenylalanine as a functional monomer and L (D)-phenylalanineas the template molecule. And their chiral separation was detected using HPLC.
