With the rapid development of Chinese highway cause, ordinary asphalt has been difficult to meet the needs of high-type pavement. It has been necessary to improve the pavement performance of asphalt by asphalt material modification. According to preparative SBS asphalt with adulterating different amount micro silicon powder, this paper researches the aging characteristic and pavement performance of asphalt, and provides a theoretical basis of inorganic material using in asphalt road.Based on the research progress of modified asphalt in China and abroad, plenty of experiments are carried out in combination with theory analysis in this article. First, preparing different adulteration amounts of SBS modified asphalt and confirming optimal adulteration is4%SBS. Second, adding different adulteration amounts of micro silicon powder to confirmed adulteration amounts of SBS modified asphalt to make micro silicon powder/SBS compound modification asphalt. And through testing needle penetration, softening point, ductility of preparative modified asphalt, the paper studies the influence of modified asphalt’s performance at high and low temperature, the temperature susceptibility and elastic recovery capabilities by micro silica powder. And discovering adulteration micro silica powder can obviously improve the aging characteristic of asphalt by testing of compound modification asphalt’s aging characteristic.On the basis of research of different adulteration amounts of micro silica powder SBS modified asphalt, Marshall Mix design is carried out with modified asphalt with the different content of micro silica powder. This paper carries Marshall test and other kinds of pavement performance tests under the optimum asphalt content, summarizes the change law of Marshall and pavement performance indicators of asphalt mixture with the different content of silica fume, puts forward the appropriate content of silica fume, and provides a reference for Marshall mix design. Finally, this paper through technical and economic analysis of micro silica powder/SBS compound modification asphalt, ordinary asphalt and other modified asphalt illuminate asphalt pavement with adulterating silica fume modifying agent has obvious social and economic benefits, and it has a great value of popularizing and using.
