High performance electrical packaging equipment for example wire bonders is one of the key supporting equipments developed by electrical machining industry, influencing the development of electrical industry and the quality of electrical products directly. Wire bonders is automatic semiconductor packaging equipment, which is composed of light, mechanical, electrical and control section, involving a number of areas, such as precision machinery, image recognition, intelligent motion control, computer application technology, optical and ultrasonic welding. This paper place emphasis on the development of the key component of wire bonders equipment——XY Precision motion platform. The main content can be stated as below:(1) We made a knowledge of the research background and meaning of this subject and investigate the research state of XY precision motion platform in domestic and overseas. After that, the existing problems can be found and the main research content and scheme of this subject can be determined.(2) This dissertation analyzed the working principle of automatic wire bonders and a flat-screen LED work process, The components of XY precision motion platform used in the plane-type LED wire bonders are modeled by using the software of SolidWorks, and assembly modeling of parts. The material and models for various components of designed XY motion platform are selected and confirmed.(3) This dissertation used finite element software for static analysis and modal analysis of key components in XY precision motion platform, and got the overall deformation, stress, strain and vibration mode change regulation with the corresponding loads of the key components. According to finite element analysis results, we improved the mechanical structure of XY precision motion platform for wire bonders to enhance the dynamic and static performance of the XY platform.(4) This dissertation researched the control system of XY precision motion platform in wire bonders, and set up experimental platform to test the motion performance of the platform.
