In the iron and steel enterprises of China, the structure types and capacity characteristics of different process heating equipment vary a lot, and even part of them are aging, that makes the energy efficiency of the whole equipment not high and thus causes great waste. Because of a lack of convenient and effective assessment system at present, most of the iron and steel enterprises in our country do assessment work for their process heating equipment in an intermittent and passive way. Considering the severe energy situation of our country and the negative energy efficiency status of the process heating equipment, there is important theoretical significance and application value to research how to rapidly and accurately assess the energy efficiency level of the equipment and to establish a scientific and perfect energy efficiency assessment system, which will help to timely provide correct decision reference for energy saving work.For the assessment work of process heating equipment in iron and steel enterprise, this paper employs the theory of energy and exergy equilibrium to establish the energy balance model, and carries out extensive research on the energy efficiency assessment index, the calculation and benchmarking comparison of energy efficiency, the parameter sensitivity analysis and error handling method. Besides, the case study and system development has been done for applying theory to practice.At first, this paper introduces the structure principle and classification of the process heating equipment, and analyzes how to choose scientific and reasonable assessment indexes, and on this basis discusses establishment method of energy equilibrium model, which will provide a train of thought and strategy guide for further research of comprehensive efficiency evaluation method.Secondly, after identifying the assessment target, this paper establishes a set of comprehensive energy efficiency assessment method based on the thermal equilibrium and exergy balance under the condition of certain constraints. The method contains the calculation model of energy and exergy balance, the computing method of assessment index and the strategy of energy efficiency benchmarking. And in view of the complex formulas and parameters in the calculation model, this paper employs the average impact value method based on neural network technology to do parameter sensitivity analysis and screening for improving the effectiveness. At the same time, in order to ensure the accuracy of the calculation, the corresponding method of error analysis and handling is put forward, and the general implementation scheme of energy efficiency assessment is given.Moreover, to verify the feasibility of the theoretical method, this paper chooses a medium-heavy plate furnace in an iron and steel plant of northern China as the assessment case, and does the actual assessment according to the proposed implementation scheme. The result shows that the comprehensive energy efficiency assessment method has both good timeliness and accuracy at the same time, and can provide correct decision support.Finally, for the convenience of the users in iron and steel enterprise to timely and effectively assess the energy efficiency level of process heating equipment, an automated energy efficiency assessment system is designed and developed in this paper, introduced from the aspects of system design, function implementation and running test.
