A+K balanced flowmeter is a new kind of differential pressure flowmeter which is invented by NASA Marshall aviation flight center, compared with other differential pressure flowmeters, it has many advantages such as high precision.wide range rate,short required straight pipe,low pressure loss and so on.This article focuses on the characteristic of low pressure loss, proposes a method of pressure loss measurement with the help of computational fluid dynamics(CFD) software, and carrying the real and simulation experimentation, then measuring three kinds of A+K balanced flowmeters, whose the equivalent diameter ratios are0.25/0.45/0.7respectively and the caliber is100mm. Calculates the pressures loss of the standard orifice flowmeter according to the ISO files, and compares it with the A+K balanced flowmeter in the same specification, finally gives a comprehensive assesment of pressure loss of A+K balanced flowmeter. The result of this part shows that:Compared with the orifice flowmeter, the absolute pressure loss of the A+K balanced flowmeter whose caliber is100mm is reduced more than60%, and relative pressure loss is reduced more than6%.In the characteristics anlysis part, this article gives a further analysis of the discharge coefficient of A+K balanced flowmeter, studies about its stable measurement area by means of CFD software. Then introduces the evaluation index of discharge coefficient and evaluates the stability of A+K balanced flowmeter and orifice flowmeter in stable measurement area.In the last part, on the basis of the pressure loss and charateristics research, this article proposes a method of designing a new-tpye perforated plate flowmeter which possesses the ability of balancing the fluid as an example of the caliber is100mm and the the equivalent diameter ratios is0.40. The result shows that:the new design perforated plate flowmeter has a balanced and stable fluid field, the pressure loss is lower than the A+K balanced flowmeter, and the stability of discharge coeffient is better than A+K balanced flowmeter.
