With the economy developing of our country, more and more perceptual are used in the urban and rural power grid. Reactive power compensation has been got more concentration. Reactive power will cause the drop of power factor and voltage, affect the network transmission, more damage to the equipments. The technology and equipmens of reactive power compensation has been used widely in low-voltage distribution network.The dissertation analyses the advatages and shortcomings the theorys of the reactive power compensation based on the theory of reactive power compensation. This article designed a kind of a small, modular and intelligence reactive power compensation device based on ARM and FPGA.In hardware design, LPC2290be the master control chip, Cyclone II be the data processing chip. Data collecting adopt the A/D conversion chip MAX197. System for current, voltage, reactive power, power factor and other parameters can be real-time monitoring and display. The dissertation determined the main electric circuit of the equipment adopts thyristor switch as the executive unit to control the switching of the capacitor set by analyzes the control switching of capacitors on the current market, control the best switching instant to decrease surge current in transient course. The dissertation analyzes the harmonic do the harmful to the power network, and introduce measures to avoid the harmonic’s harmful and take the series reactor to suppressing harmonics.In software design, Describes the characteristics of Verilog HDL language and μC/OS-Ⅱ operating system.System software based on module processing and call the subroutine.The system program first to gather the current and voltage signal, get the rms voltage circuit. The main work of operating data by CycloneII and the data using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method. LPC2200do the controlling. Control program based on switching voltage and reactive power as control factor, First it need make the judgement that whether the reactive power has been over limit, depend the judement it will calculate the amuont of compensation and electrical switching capacity and switching of several groups.At the same time it will make the judgement that whether the voltage meet the requirements, if you reach the switching conditions can be compensated, it will calculate the compenstaion if the voltage is not meet the requirments.System can communicate via CAN.Finally, the experimental verification, the design of reactive power compensation is reasonable, fast response, high reliability has achieve the desired requirments. The dissertation also summarizes the work needs to be perfect.
