With the growing number of electrified railway, large number of new railway traction substation put into use. Therefore, the quality of the staff is also put forward higher requirements. So make a simulation training system for traction substation has a very important significance.The digital waveform generator as a traction substation simulation training subsystem was introduced in this paper. The traditional generator use phase shifters, reactors, transformers, switches and other physical devices. This approach has the disadvantage such as waveform single, largest investment, wiring complexity. To overcome these disadvantage. Using of digital substation sampling transmission technology in the training system. Not only can save the economic cost of the training system, but also enhances the ability of the model simulation.According to the digital substation protocol.Directly using a computer simulates the sampled values, and enters the substation via a digital waveform generator to completion of the sampling. This design not only can save the economic cost of the training system, but also can give a variety of fault wave from the computer simulations what’s the transformer are difficult to simulate. So the training system can simulate a variety of on-site fault waveform, Enhances the functionality of the training system.firstly, the basic concepts of Substation Training System and the difference between traditional waveform sources and simulation waveform by the waveform generator were introduced in this paper; Secondly, it introduces that the relevant features of IEC61850and the relevant provisions of the IEC61850protocol for waveform; Then outlines the selection and design of the digital waveform generator, and completed the hardware; Then designed software according to the hardware and IEC61850-9-2,and completed among embedded Linux system software design, as well as on a computer platform control software design; Finally, carried out a test on the Digital substation system.Verify the correlation function of the digital waveform generator.Through the study of digital waveform generator, Provides a waveform source for the substation training system, And to achieve the required functional of the training system. The result has a certain practical value.
