Objective:To investigate the safety, feasibility and efficacy of Laparoscopic assisted D2radical gastrectomy for locally advanced gastric cancer. Methods:The clinical data of118patients with locally advanced gastric cancer in Fujian Provincial Hospital and treated with surgery from December2008to August2012were analyzed retrospectively, including57cases of laparo-scopic radical gastrectomy(LG group),61cases of open radical gastrectomy(OG group); We analysis the efficacy and compare the mean operation time, blood loss, mean length of incision, time for passage of flatus, out-of-bed activity, liquid food intake, peritoneal cavity drainage tube extraction, postoperative hospital stay, postoperative complications, the number of lymph nodes dissected and the margin status between two groups of patients.Resultst There were no significant differences among two groups in sex, age, tumor location, tumor TNM stage, type-of tumor pathological and type-of gastrectomy. The mean length of incision, blood loss, time for passage of flatus, out-of-bed activity, liquid food intake, peritoneal cavity drainage tube extraction and postoperative hospital stay of LG group were statistically shorter than OG group, however, longer in operation time. There were no statistically significant differences in the length of resection margin, number of lymph nodes dissected and the incidence of postoperative complications between the two groups. All patients were follow-up for4-48months. The1-year and2-year survival rates of LG group and OG group were100percents,97.30percents and83.33percents,81.25percents, respectively, which were not statistically significant different. Conclusions:Laparoscopic assisted D2radical gastrectomy for locally advanced gastric cancer is safe and feasible, with less trauma, rapid recovery and other advantages. It can achieve the same radical and curative effect as open radical gastrectomy.
