Chinesization And Application Of Cough-specific Quality-of-life Questionnaire

The impact of chronic cough on health status has attracted more and moreattention. Visual analogue scales,cough symptom score and cough reflex sensitivity are commonly used to evaluat ecough severity but all lack thorough validation for the impact of chronic cough on health status.The cough-specific,health-related quality-of-life questionnaires have been developed abroad in recent years,that provide very well measurement of health status.This study is to bring itinto the country to evaluate its applicability and application value.Part1The reliability,validity and responsiveness evaluation ofthe Chinese version of CQLQ【Objective】We develope a Chineseversion of the cough-specificquality-of-life questionnaireand evaluate its reliability,validity and responsiveness.【Methods】We translated cough-specific quality-of-life questionnaire into a Chinese versionfollowing4steps:forward translation,backward translation,Testing,Proof-reading andfinalization.The reliability,validity and responsiveness of the questionnaire wereevaluated by the results of80cases chronic coughers.【Results】The Cronbach’αcoefficient and the test-retest reliability coefficient of the questionnaire respective is0.935and0.931.The correlation coefficient between the score of Physical complaints，Psychosocial issues，Functional abilities，Extreme physical complaints and total questionnaire is high（>0.8），but Emotionalwell-being and Personal safety fears is0.536and0.540.Six common factors were extracted by the factor analysis which defined66.603%of the full variation rates.The total score of questionnaire effect up to0.99beforeand after treatment.【Conclusion】The Chinese version of CQLQ has good reliability and validity and it could betterdistinguish treatment effects. Part2The applied research of the Chinese version of cough-specificquality-of-life questionnaire【Objective】To evaluate the application value of the Chinese version of CQLQ.【Methods】Subjects must complete the Chinese version of CQLQ and visu alanalogue scales,cough symptom score or measurement of cough reflex sensitivity at the same time,thenanalyse their correlation with statistical analysis methods.【Results】The Chinese version of CQLQ correlated moderately well with visual analogue scales and cough symptom score,the Correlation coefficients were0.576,0.376,0.453respectively.There is no significant correlation between the scale and the cough reflexsensitivity.【Conclusion】The Chinese version of CQLQ canassess the impact of chronic cough on health statusroundly.It is to bemoderately well related to visual analogue scales and coughsymptom score,but not tocough reflex sensitivity.
